In order to keep your yard looking healthy all year long, you must fertilize it and treat it at the right times during the year with a broadcast spreader.
Many homeowners in our neighborhood have had great success with Scotts brand lawn care products. The Scotts website not only provides excellent lawn care tips, on it you can subscribe to reminders (a.k.a The Scotts Annual Lawn Care Program) that will tell when to fertilize and what type of fertilizer/lawn care product to apply.

It is also recommended that you test your sprinkler system from time to time to ensure that it is spraying water correctly. Most brown spots on the lawns are from the lack of water during the dry season and the sprinkler system is not spraying water correctly. Some sprinkler heads may become clogged over time and just need to be cleaned. For help with sprinkler heads Click here for RainBird sprinklers and Click here for Hunter sprinklers
Sometimes the sprinkler heads need to be lifted so that they can clear the top of the grass and are not blocked by the grass itself. This is relatively easy to do, but seek assistance if you are uncomfortable in attempting this task. You can take a do-it-yourself class at either Lowe's or Home Depot. If that isn't for you, you can contact an irrigation company to come out and raise the heads for you; naturally this will be more money out of pocket. Of course, you can contact the ARC using the feedback page and request some help. They'll be more than happy to show you how to raise your sprinkler heads; they may even be able to help you do it.
